| Phostoxin®
Composition:
Solid fumigant, gas generator, available in the form of tablets,
round tablets and pellets, composed of aluminum phosphide (at 60%),
plus a balanced mixture of ammonium carbamate and paraffin, that
allows a safe and efficient release of Phosphine.
Mode of Action:
Once the package has been opened and the product exposed to the
relative humidity and temperature, a protecting gas with irritating
odor is released ( ammoniac + carbon dioxide) followed by Phosphine
(PH3) highly pure. This process is completed within the 48 to 96
hours of exposure, depending on the relative temperature and humidity.
In normal conditions (20„C and 60% humidity), Phostoxin® releases
40% of Phosphine within 24 hours and 75% in 48 hours. The higher
the temperature and humidity, the faster the liberation of gas.
Fumigations should not take place if temperature is bellow 5„C.
The Phosphine causes the insects to asphyxiate, affecting the metabolic
and enzymatic process of the respiratory system.
|
|
The minimum required concentration
for the total death toll of all insectile stages is of 150 ppm
during a 5 day exposure with temperatures above 20„C.
The dose varies according to the characteristics of the storing
facilities or the type of insect. As a general norm, read the
label carefully and consult our technical department. |
Fields of Application:
Products in bulk: grains (wheat, barley, rye, oat, corn, sorghum,
rice) pellets and flour, leguminous (peanut, green pea, lentil,
etc.), oleaginous (soya, sunflower, etc.), seeds, malt, cocoa bean,
pellets, wood, cotton, etc.
Packed products: flour, semola, dry fruit and vegetables, aromatic
herbs, spices, chocolate, walnuts, cocoa, coffee, pasta, tobbaco
bales and other finished products, may be treated with Phostoxin®
as long as the packaging is permeable to gas. Can be applied in
gas tight storing facilities or under plastic film impermeable to
gas (100 microns at least). In these cases the product must not
come into contact with the merchandise.
Security:
The amonium carbamate controls the liberation of Phosphine, making
Phostoxin® the only product to offer extraordinary security
in its application.
The product and its residues decompose into substances that do not
harm the environment.
 |
| |
The
Phosphin is a highly toxic gas, a little heavier than the air
(density = 1,20) it difuses rapidly due to the contact with
the air. The Phosphine in its pure state is insoluble in water
and fat and does not produce chemical reactions with the components
of the treated goods. There fore, Phostoxin® does not affect
the fumigated products, leaving their chemical organoleptic
properties active and capacity to germinate unaltered. |
